It’s been quite a while since I last blogged, life’s been ok, brought some new stuff, I’ll post details shortly, but I heard a story today that I needed to share…
A tractor fan drove his 44-year-old machine on a 700-mile pilgrimage from Germany to the factory where it was made, Wolfgang Mueller, 65, had dreamed for years of taking his red Massey Ferguson MF35 back to Coventry.
Two weeks after retiring, the farmer left Stuttgart, chugging at less than 30mph towing a caravan through Luxembourg and France and catching a ferry at Calais. He took country lanes and B-roads to Basildon, Essex, to look at New Holland tractor-makers, then to get a photo of his vehicle at London Bridge.
But when he reached the spot where Massey Ferguson had been based in Coventry, he saw a housing estate called Bannerbrook Park.
The factory had been knocked down years ago.
This poor guy! He’s been looking forward to this for years! He’s travelled for weeks, made so much effort, to discover that he had presumed some of the key facts in his voyage.
Isn’t this true of Christians as well?
We assume that God is happy with us doing projects / missions / events…only to find that they are a flop…how often are these things actually from God?
This is a real challenge, because we have to ask ourselves tough, potentially life changing questions. And more importantly, sometimes we have to admit that we’re in the wrong…and who likes doing that?
