Sometimes we're just too clever...

In the 1960's, an inventor named Paul C. Fisher created a revolutionary
new ball point pen. It works with thixotropic ink and a pressurized ink
cartridge, it can survive a wide array of temperatures, ranging from -50
to 160 degrees fahrenheit, and was developed for use in space. It cost
millions of dollars to develop.

The Russians also had the same problem, pens rely gravity, the absence
of gravity meant their pens didn't work.

The Russians thought about this, and used a pencil.

Some times, the most simple answer is the best.
