Should I be this excited?

Dan and I have had many conversations recently about Sunday morning services, and how we're actually quite excited about church on a Sunday morning...Isn't this pretty rare?! To quote Dan: "I'm seeing Matt Redman and Delirious in concert tomorrow, and I'm just as excited about that as I am about Church on Sunday morning."

'Fallons' is one of the biggest marketing agencies in the UK, their client list includes; Ben & Jerrys, Sony, Orange and the BBC to name but a few. It is however their appearance in a documentary last year that makes me mention them. It was a documentary about Church marketing, and they likened Church to Skoda (another of their long standing clients). I paraphrase their analysis...

"Church as a brand is similar to Skoda, why? Because the response across demographics is the same, no-one wants a skoda, if a family is even discussing buying a skoda, a horiffic tantrum from the kids will break out, and people will mock you for having a skoda. Kids don't want to go to church, people can't be bothered to go to church, and if you do go, you are likely to be mocked"

However, we have hope, Skoda are now a reputable brand, a cheap VW, they even win rally championships...and Fallons tried to do the same with Church.

Hmmm, good concept, however it was floored, there wasn't enough money going into the campaign, so, in the typical church way, the campaign was created and there wasn't enough cash to follow it through...Ha ha ha, good planning boys.

My point? Well, is that our image? As 'Christians', what image do we carry. The other night I was at a party and some charming fellow said in rather a sarcastic manner 'What, you guys are CHRISTIANS?' (aimed at Dan and I) and with a slightly scary look in my eye, I replied 'Yep'.

What image have we got as Christians? I think maybe these videos say it best, please take the time to watch all 3, the message is good.

Well, if maybe we could accecpt each other as Christians or Christ-followers first, maybe we can tackle our rather stagnant image, and present what we know and love. Jesus.

I'm so blessed to be part of a community of whole hearted worshippers...God falls and we all lap it up, and its amazing, it's an experience, and I find that telling people about an experience is pretty difficult. You have to show it to them.

That in mind, I'm off.
